A video making the rounds on social media allegedly shows a man goading a toddler boy to walk up to Israeli border police and wave a Palestinian flag and throw stones at them, CNS News reported.
“Shoot him and kill him!” the man allegedly shouted at police, CNS reported. He allegedly added that Israelis are “familiar with shooting and killing kids.”
Egging on the child — who was wearing red shorts — the man allegedly told him to “raise up the flag!”
The boy was seen walking right up to the group of heavily armed officers.
One of the officers was seen speaking to and offering the child a handshake.
CNS reported that the man told the child to throw stones at police, but he instead threw them along the roadside as protesters were heard chanting.
More from CNS:
An Israeli Defense Forces spokesman’s office official posted the clip on Twitter. “[F]ather of the year stages his toddler son,” tweeted Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, “tries to get him to throw stones calls border police to shoot.”
Attempts to establish from the IDF where and when the incident occurred were unsuccessful.
Leibel A. Mangel, an IDF combat veteran who also posted the clip on social media, said the child had been identified as Muhammad Suroor, age three.
Mangel paraphrased a quote attributed to the late Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir: “There will be peace when they love their children more than they hate ours.”
